The Amador County Local Agency Formation Commission or LAFCO, is seek to fill an open seat. The seat is for the alternative public member, and is open to all residents of Amador County. This is an excellent way to get involved in the local land use decision-making process with a limited time commitment.
LAFCO regulates and controls boundary changes of local governments like Cities and Community Service Districts. Therefor, all those proposed new subdivisions and commercial developments on the edge of town need to have LAFCO’s approval before they go forward. LAFCO plays a key role in preventing urban sprawl and preserving farmlands and open space.
