Community Collaboration

The county in which we live has so much to offer and so many hidden gems. Over this past year Foothill Conversancy, Mother Lode Land Trust, and Farms of Amador have worked in collaboration to develop a series of outings that would highlight the work of these dedicated non-profit organizations and help to uncover some of these hidden gems for those that wish to find them.

The outings series began with a scavenger hunt that had participants search high and low for items that included historic buildings, recipes made with local ingredients, wild animals that could be seen from a window, and many more. A lavender walk and workshop hosted in the Shenandoah Valley opened participants senses to the sounds, smells, and values of local farms and to this valuable plant. The summer outings series was rounded out with an early morning nature hike up and along the scenic ridge of the historic Chichizola-Cuneo Ranch in Jackson.

With the busy summer months winding down and the days becoming shorter more events are being planned that celebrate intrinsic value of Amador County through its history, agriculture, and open spaces. These free events and those to come have been made possible through the dedication of the individuals representing each of these organizations.
