Foothill Conservancy participates in the public review of new developments and the general plans and zoning regulations of local cities and counties. In doing so we strive to ensure that our rural character is preserved; that adequate infrastructure, services and workforce housing are timely provided for; that open space and natural resources are conserved and that impacts to our environment are avoided or mitigated. We actively engage in public education, help communities address local concerns and learn about land use planning practices. We are guided by Foothill Conservancy land use principles as well as our vision and mission statement which are posted on our blog.

Foothill Conservancy protects the wildlife, recreation and scenic values of our beloved Mokelumne River and other streams and lakes primarily in Amador and Calaveras Counties. We work together with other environmental groups, water agencies, utilities, cities, counties and citizens to achieve wild and scenic designation, secure sufficient flows, stop pollution and promote conservation.
